Creature of the Night is an up and coming fashion label based in Melbourne, Australia. The brand creates individual bespoke items of clothing, jewellery, and accessories, along with creating custom commission pieces for individuals with a specific need. All pieces that are created are designed and made locally in Melbourne by the owner of the brand.
With its darker aesthetic, Creature of the Night combines elements of Japanese lolita fashion, Harajuku fashion, Western goth fashion, as well as costume design. These main influences create the main focus within the brand when creating different collections.
Creature of the Night strives to be an environmentally friendly, ethical, and sustainable brand. The aim is to make customers aware of what goes on both within the brand and also within the fashion industry.
The first collection by Creature of the Night is inspired by the fetish scene, Lucifer the TV show, and Japanese visual kei fashion. The title for the collection is 'Desire', an appropriate name for what it was inspired by.
The collection features garments named after different fetish terms and demon names (both from Lucifer and Japanese youkai stories). PVC fabric is used in combination with bamboo fabric to show the juxtaposition between hard and soft; dominant and submissive. Silver hardware accents, such as buckles and eyelets, add extra details that compliment the fabric choices.
Focusing on quality over quantity, Creature of the Night creates unique pieces no matter the occasion.
